  • Anyone in the MUS community is invited to join this discussion about books and library matters.

Sign Up for Raise a Reader

Starting over Spring Break, the Hyde Library Learning Center encourages students and parents to participate in the Raise a Reader School Challenge, sponsored by Parents and the International Reading Association. Sign up online after March 8 at the official contest Web site. The contest runs from March 8 through May 31. If the school wins, our library will receive a prize of $5,000.  Students who log at least 60 minutes of reading each week will be entered for individual prizes. As an added benefit, we’ll have an idea of how much time our students have devoted to reading during a three-month period.

Volunteer State Book Award

You can decide the next winner of the Tennessee Volunteer State Book Award. Click on the link to see a presentation of the nominees.  Once you have read 3 of the books, you are eligible to vote for your favorite.  The 2009 winner was Rick Riordan's Lightning Thief which also won for MUS.  It's never too soon to start reading for the 2010 contest.
