Owls Win Wenzler Tournament

The varsity golf team was victorious at the Ronnie Wenzler Memorial Golf Tournament on August 17 at Windyke Country Club’s West Course.
Junior Cooper Solberg led the Owls with a 4-under-par round of 68, followed up by senior RJ Neal’s 1-under-par 71. Freshman Brantley Moore shot an even-par 72, junior Wils Moore fired a 3-over-par 75, and junior Sujay Mukatira posted an 8-over-par 80.

The tournament is named after former MUS golf coach Ronnie Wenzler (1934-2010), who led the Owls to a state championship in 1996. The Commercial Appeal named him the boys golf coach of the year in 2003 and 2004 after the team finished as the state-runner up both years.
