MUS concluded its spring break trip with a 7-6 win over South Pontotoc (MS).
Griffin Brown got the start on the mound for the Owls, striking out five in five innings of work. MUS got off to a hot start, jumping out to an early 7-1 lead. Despite a late rally from South Pontotoc, Jacob Wade and Mason Morris were able to close out the win.
Hudson Shoaf went 2-5 at the plate with a double and two runs scored. Griffin Brown and Nathaniel Griffin also swung a hot bat, both going 2-4 with Nathaniel knocking in two RBIs.
MUS began its spring break trip to Mississippi with a doubleheader sweep over Water Valley (MS) and Houston (MS), 2-0 and 4-0.
The Owls were led in both games by fantastic starting pitching from Marty Kerlan and Hank Sayle. Kerlan threw 6.1 shutout innings against Water Valley, striking out four. Hank Sayle threw a complete game shutout against Houston, striking out three.
MUS claimed a gritty road win over Tipton-Rosemark. The Owls jumped out to an early 3-1 lead through three innings with Palmer Harris, Hank Sayle, and Jordan Kirshbaum getting RBIs. The Rebels scored four runnings in the 5th inning to claim a 5-3 lead, but the Owls came storming back in the 6th. Palmer Harris added his second RBI of the game to score Griffin Brown, and Hudson Shoaf brought home the go-ahead runs.
