    We strive to ensure that students are well cared for should they sustain an injury while participating in school athletics. To that end we offer National Accident Health General Agency (NAHGA) gap insurance coverage for our student-athletes while they participate in any of our 14 interscholastic sports (up to $15,000).     The Purple Wave hosts the varsity football Owls Friday, September 4, at 7 p.m. in Tom Nix Stadium. No tickets will be sold for this game because of capacity limits and social distancing guidelines, but it will be broadcast on CW30 TV.

  • Face Coverings/Masks

    We require students, faculty, and staff to wear properly fitting face coverings that cover the mouth and nose.

    Students should bring at least two masks with them to school every day so they can change after several hours. If a student comes to school with no mask or an unacceptable mask, we will provide masks for that day. Continued failure to wear a proper face covering will be treated as a dress-code violation.

  • Chamberlain Named Varsity Tennis Coach

    Phil Chamberlain steps in as head tennis coach upon the retirement of Head Coach Bill Taylor. Chamberlain has been head coach at Hutchison and an MUS varsity coach for 12 years. He has served as director of the school’s Dunavant-Wellford Tennis Center since 2008. During his playing career, he won the Australian National Team Championships as a junior and played No. 1 singles and doubles for the University of Memphis from 1973-76, while achieving a Bachelor of Science in human movement and biology.

    We sent an email this week to let parents know that the Magnus online health management system is open for updates. You will see that the target date for completing all required forms – including some new sections – is June 15. We ask that you try to complete the requirements by this date, but we realize obtaining an updated physical for PE and sports might be a challenge now, as medical offices may be operating with limited staffing and hours.

  • Sports Physicals: April 20

    Mark your calendar for Upper School Sports Physical Night, Monday, April 20. On this date MUS will offer free PE and sports physicals for all new and returning students who will be in Grades 9-12 for the 2020-21 school year.

    This event gives Upper School students the opportunity to receive a convenient, no-cost physical exam conducted by local physicians who donate their time. It also offers athletes the opportunity to fulfill the TSSAA requirement of being medically cleared to participate in interscholastic athletics.
