National Classical Etymology Exam Medalists

Bubones have risen to the challenge of the National Classical Etymology Exam with 12 students earning medals during the November portion of the competition. The exam tests a student’s ability to handle Latin and Greek derivatives and their usage in the English language.
In the Intermediate Level, Latin III, sophomores Cullen Lonergan earned a Gold Medal, and Fawwaz Omer earned a Bronze. Freshmen brought home honors in the Intermediate Level, Latin II, with Mark Hieatt, Matthew Mellone, and Kerry Zhao earning Gold; and Simeon Betapudi, Collin Craft, Evan Jones, and Forest Rudd capturing Silver. Eighth graders captured honors in the Novice Levels, with Jack Zaptin earning a Bronze Medal in Latin II, and Charles Hamlett and Jack Knighton earning Bronze in Latin I. This is the ninth year the National Junior Classical League has sponsored the online competitions. The second and third parts of the exam will be conducted this month.
