He served as director of the Upper School at Christ Church Episcopal School in Greenville, SC, for the past 10 years. Previously, he was Upper School head at University School in Fort Lauderdale, FL; and Brunswick School in Greenwich, CT. He also spent 13 years at Collegiate School in Richmond, VA, where he served as assistant Upper School head; coached football, baseball, and softball; and advised the Honor Council.
“The Board of Trustees is delighted to welcome Pete Sanders to MUS,” Board Chair Samuel N. Graham II ’80 says. “A man of integrity, and a quiet, confident leader, he has demonstrated his ability to manage a complex, high-achieving community. We know he will honor our legacy and traditions while keeping an eye to the future, as we continue to provide boys an outstanding liberal arts education and activities that prepare them for 21st century challenges.”
“I am tremendously honored to serve as headmaster,” Sanders says. “The MUS commitment to academic excellence and to affording boys opportunities to grow into well-rounded young men resonates deeply with me on a personal level. As a graduate of a boys’ school myself, I feel a special connection to MUS and its mission. I am looking forward to working with the talented faculty, administrative team, and Board of Trustees to build upon a great foundation toward an even brighter future.”
Sanders and his wife, Tracey, are enjoying getting settled in Memphis. Their daughter, Hope, recently graduated from Royal Holloway, University of London.
