Coach Jarnagin's Recap - Week of March 25th

The Diamond Owls got off to a rough start to the week, committing five errors in a 12-2 loss to rival CBHS. But we quickly bounced back with a huge win the following night behind great pitching from Nash Stewart. Stewart allowed four runs on five hits, throwing 5 innings. Caleb Littlejohn finished the game giving up one run as we won, 10-5. CJ Thomas and Stewart led the Owls with multiple hits. After a day off, we traveled to FACS. Behind the pitching of senior Henry Wood, we scored 11 runs as Wood went 6 innings, giving up two runs. Freshman Clarkson Shoaf pitched a scoreless last inning to help the team. Jack Gorman and Connor Price each had multiple hits to lead the Owls. We also played errorless baseball, and Scott Burnett had nine chances at first base, the most on the team. The next day we played St. George’s at home, and Scott Burnett started on the mound, giving up three runs on two hits. We would come back and pick up the winning run in the bottom of the seventh when Maurice Hampton scored from third base on a passed ball. Caleb Littlejohn got the win, throwing 2 1/3 innings as he allowed one hit and no runs. Hampton led the Owls with four hits, including two homeruns, as we won, 4-3. Saturday, we played at ECS early to try to beat the rain. Matt Camp started the game, allowing eight hits and two runs over 6 innings. Clarkson Shoaf would pick up the win in the 7th after we had scored two late runs. Jack Gorman went 2-3, and Maurice Hampton hit another homerun. Overall, we had a great week, going 4-1. This week we are home Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday, and we travel to Tipton-Rosemark Friday. Go, Owls!
