Coach Beck's Recap of MBA and CBHS Games

The MUS soccer team went 1-1 this week with a 4-1 win over MBA @ MUS and a 1-0 loss versus CBHS @ CBHS. The MBA game was very exciting. MUS got off to a good start creating a lot of chances in the first half, but right before the half ended MBA caught us on a quick counterattack and scored. With 20 minutes left in the game MUS was still behind 1-0 although we had created several chances up until then. Thomas Pitts came on as a sub at this point and changed the game with his energy and speed. Within 10 minutes MUS had scored 4 goals (Pitts-3 and Kayhan Mirza - 1) and the game was secured. The CBHS game was a very competitive game and in the first 15 minutes MUS put CBHS under a lot of pressure and scored a goal from a corner kick. The referee determined MUS had fouled the GK and the goal was disallowed. One minute later CBHS intercepted a short back pass and scored. The remaining 60 minutes was a hard-fought physical battle that produced several good opportunities to tie the game, but time ran out for MUS and score ended up 1-0 for CBHS. The MUS coaching staff was very pleased with the effort and the quality of play produced by the team this week and are encouraged by the improvement the team is showing as we move through the season.

This week MUS will play a very strong Lausanne soccer team on Tuesday 4/2 at 6pm @Lausanne and go to Huntsville Alabama for the Grissom Invitational Tournament this weekend (4/5-4/6). MUS will play Valley View HS from Arkansas on Friday night at 7pm. The remaining tournament schedule is based on game-game results.

Highlight of the week: Thomas Pitts scored a hat trick in 20 minutes versus MBA!
