Coach J's Recap - Week of April 1st

The Diamond Owls got off to a great start the beginning the week behind pitcher Riley Palmer. He allowed one hit and no runs over 6 innings, striking out 12 and walking one against the Memphis Home Education Association as we won, 10-0. The Owls totaled 14 hits in the game. Connor Price, Lee Linkous, Maurice Hampton, and Nash Stewart each had multiple hits, and Price went 3-for-5 at the plate to lead the Owls in hits. The Owls played errorless ball in the field. Price, our catcher, had the most chances in the field with 12.

After a day off, we played Lausanne Collegiate School. Caleb Littlejohn pitched the Owls to victory. He pitched four innings of no-hit ball, allowing no runs, striking out three, and walking only one. Maurice Hampton threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen. Hampton led the team, going 2-for-3 at the plate. We tore up the base paths as two players stole at least two bases. Will Portera led the way with three in our 12-0 victory.

The next day would be a rain-out against First Assembly Christian School, which we made up Saturday. Friday night we played at Tipton-Rosemark Academy. Henry Wood got the start on the mound and was terrific. He went 5 2/3 innings, striking out five and allowing only two hits and no runs. Maurice Hampton would finish the game, throwing 1 1/3 inning and striking out three. Hampton would lead us with three hits, one being a homerun on the first pitch of the game. We won, 4-0.

And early Saturday morning found us back at home for the make-up game with FACS. Scott Burnett got the start, pitching 5 innings while giving up two runs. Freshman Clarkson Shoaf would finish the game, going the remaining 2 innings as we won 11-2.

We open up the week with region rival St. Benedict for a two-game series on Monday at SBA and Tuesday at MUS. * Update Monday’s games have been canceled due to rain. Varsity game rescheduled for Wednesday at 4:00 at SBA*
