McCallie and Baylor Recap

This past weekend, we played our last two home games of the regular season as we took on two Chattanooga teams, McCallie and Baylor.

We have a great history with McCallie. Our games with them have always been competitive, hard-fought contests. Since 1997 the record between the two teams is 16-16 with an average score of MUS 8.34 to McCallie 7.53. During this 32-game span, five games were played in the state semifinals and 10 were played in the state finals.

McCallie brought a very experienced team here, so we knew that we would have to execute really well the entire four quarters to get the victory. And for much of the game, we did play well, and the game was definitely hard fought. Unfortunately, McCallie made enough plays and won, 11-8.

The next day against Baylor, we had to bounce back, and we did, winning 15-6. I was pleased with the way the players put the previous-evening’s game behind them and came out to play.

The Owls face a difficult schedule on the road the rest of April, starting this weekend in Nashville against MBA on Friday and Father Ryan on Saturday. Winning these games will be critical for the Owls if they want to host home games for the playoffs leading up to the championship game, which will be played at Nolensville High School in Nashville for the second spring in a row.
