LS Lacrosse Wins 17th City Championship

I can’t begin to tell you guys how proud the coaches are of you.  We so enjoyed watching your development, learning to direct your passions positively, and especially learning to trust each other and put the TEAM first.  Yesterday, we put together our most complete game of the year and dominated Houston 12-2 for our 17th City Championship (out of 18 years)!

Some stats from this season:
  • The A Team goes 14-1 (not counting the loss in the scrimmage against the MUS JV) outscoring opponents 156-57 (10.4-3.8 per game) with a combined 8 wins over the other teams in the playoffs (Houston, Brothers, and Briarcrest) and great wins versus Nashville’s best teams – MBA and Woodlands (Brentwood feeder program).  There has not been a more “exciting” game to be a part of than being able to go to Nashville and avenge the earlier one goal loss to an extremely talented MBA team.  The defense dominated this year and set the tone for this team.  With the exception of MBA (7 & 8), no team scored more than 5 goals against this team.
  • The B Team goes 10-1 with their only loss coming in a last second shot to the Brothers with little light left in the sky.  The wins were highlighted with victories over MBA, Woodlands, Brothers, Houston, and A-teams from St. George’s, ECS, and Collierville.  The team outscored opponents 66-26 (6.0-2.4 per game).   Again anchored by defense as well, MBA (5) was the lone team to score more than 3 goals against this team.  The improvement through the year was incredible for us to watch.

Be proud of what you have accomplished, but it’s only the beginning.  I know that this talented class of 8th graders will continue to bring up their game and make a big impact over the next 4 years at the Varsity level.  For the 7th graders, we look forward to you working hard during the Off-Season to continue to improve and being ready to lead next year!

Have a great summer…
Jeffrey
