St. Louis #1 Recap

The Red team traveled over to CBHS to take on St. Louis #1 in tough match up. The team prevailed 34 to 0 against a tough opponent playing their overall best game of the year. It was an excellent effort by our team as we played physically tough football but also controlled our emotions in a tense environment.

The 1st quarter had both teams make good drives that ended in turnovers and no scoring. The 2nd quarter got interesting. Our team went for it on 4th and short from the 49 and a great catch by Van Thompson on a pass from Grayson Pollan turned into a 47 yard gain. Pollan sneaked it in from the 2 and Andrew Tancredi tacked on the PAT. The next series the defense got into the scoring column as Brandon Nicholson picked up a backwards fumbled pass and returned it 20 yards for a TD. Tancredi again tacked on the PAT. After 2 unsportsmanlike conduct penalties against St. Louis the Owls attempted and recovered an onside kick at the 16 yard line and followed that with a Pollan pass to Jack Jarratt that covered the 16 yard distance for a score. The 2PAT was unsuccessful but a tight game had turned into a 20 to 0 lead at the half.

The Owls kept up the momentum in the 3rd quarter when Louis Brundick hit Sims Miller down the sideline on a beautiful throw and catch. Miller ran away from the defense to score on the 57 yard play. Tancredi hit the PAT. Makhi Shaw made a nice strip tackle on the next series and also recovered the fumble.

The Owls were not finished as Pollan hit Parks Painter down the seam in the 4th quarter for a 35 yard TD pass. Tancredi was finished the scoring making the final score 34 to 0. The entire team really contributed to the win. Strong defensive play by Catcher Miller, Clayton Kuhlo, and Michael Ray with linebacker play by Tee Perry and Makhi Shaw helped control on strong St. Louis run game.

The Red team attempts to complete an undefeated season next Wednesday at Stokes Stadium when they host the St. Louis #2 squad at 7:30. The Blue team will host St.Dominic at 6pm as they are also trying to finish undefeated. Should be a great night for football and a chance to celebrate a great season for both squads.
