The 8th grade Owls won at Houston 28 to 22. This victory gives the Owls 1st place in the regular season standings. It was a hard fought win against a very talented Houston team. The team now gets a well deserved break and will return for their final regular season game against Arlington in 2 weeks.
The 8th grade Owls moved to 4-0 on the season with a hard fought 24-18 victory over Collierville. The Owls moved out to an early 16-0 lead behind some stellar running by Tommie Reed. But the Dragon stormed back with several nice passing plays and a tough run game to take the lead 18-16 midway through the 3rd quarter. But a great kick-off return set the Owls up at the 27 yard line and it only took the team 3 running plays to move back in front. As the 4th quarter got started it looked like our team had momentum behind our strong rushing attack but a turnover gave the ball back to Collierville with 6:30 on the clock and they put together a strong drive advancing to the Owls 11 where they faced 4th down with 26 seconds left. The Collierville pass was defended by Palmer Albertine sealing the win for the Owls.
Next week the team travels to Houston for a matchup of the two top teams in the league. Houston has dominated opponents so far this season presenting a tough matchup for our squad. The 7th grade game starts at 5:30 so kickoff for this game would be around 7.
