Celebrating the Voice of the Owls

In addition to recognizing our senior players this past Friday night during the football game, we also took a moment to celebrate The Voice of the Owls, Stormin’ Norman Thompson.
Instructor in English Norman Thompson has been the Owls’ play-by-play announcer since Coach Jake Rudolph drafted him in 1985 – never missing a single home game in 35 years!

After a tribute delivered by English Instructor Tim Greer during halftime, Thompson was surprised with a celebration cake in the press box, where he was working the game with longtime spotter Coach Bill Taylor and statistician Dax Torrey '94. The crowd in the stands turned around toward the box to offer him a congratulatory salute.

Here’s to three and a half decades calling the plays with perfect attendance – and many more games to come. Cheers, Mr. Thompson!
