Keel is January Owl Ovation Honoree

Instructor in Modern Languages Rebecca Keel is the Parents' Association Owl Ovation honoree for January.
“She is extremely attentive to communication, provides detailed explanations supported by data, updates grades often, and is highly relatable to her students. [Our son] had zero interest in learning a language and has chosen four years of French just because he loves her class,” a parent said.

Keel currently teaches French III, French IV, and AP French as well as serving as head coach for the football cheerleading squad and assistant coach for the basketball cheerleading squad. Students have lauded Keel over the years for her thoughtfulness, cheerfulness, and smile that graces every class. She received her bachelor’s from Lambuth University in 2006 and her master’s in teaching from Middle Tennessee State University in 2009.

Upon completion of her degree, the French Embassy hired her to teach English in French public schools. She joined the MUS faculty in 2011 and was the recipient of the 2020 Hale Fellowship for Faculty Development.
