Betapudi Records History Day Win

Junior Simeon Betapudi earned first place in the Senior Individual Paper division of the West Tennessee History Day regional competition March 6.
His paper, “Shaking Washington to Its Core: A. Philip Randolph and his Courageous Communication” explored Randolph’s efforts to increase African American employment in war industries during World War II. 
 
Betapudi is revising his paper in preparation for the state competition April 10. Winners will represent Tennessee in the national competition held in Washington, DC, in June.
  
Founded in 1849, the Tennessee Historical Society is the oldest continually operating historical organization in Tennessee. The THS began sponsoring and producing Tennessee History Day in 2009.
