Sellers Earns Selective NEH Grant

Mr. Ryan Sellers, chair of the Department of Classical and Modern Languages, will participate in the National Endowment for the Humanities Landmarks of American History and Culture program June 21-25. NEH programs are highly competitive and include workshop participation and a stipend.
“It’s an honor to be chosen,” Sellers said. “I am particularly interested in the ‘teaching tough history’ component of this workshop. When it comes to the ancient Romans, there is undoubtedly a lot of tough history involved (slavery, inequality, imperialism, etc.), and I’m always looking for new strategies for helping students confront and evaluate these sorts of difficult issues.”

Sellers will participate in the workshop “From Clotilda to Community: The History of Mobile, Alabama’s Africatown.”
