Summer Academic Assignments – Start Early!

As summer kicks off, we offer this friendly reminder about summer academic assignments and programs. Each student must complete his summer reading and math packet assignments before classes resume in the fall.
Summer Reading
Students are required to read three books over the summer. Everything you need to know about the Summer Reading Policy, reading lists, and more can be found on this library page - always linked HERE on our website in the Summer Programs section or on the parent Resource Boards in OwlHub.

The wisest approach to Summer Reading is to begin early, spread completion of the three books across the summer, and avoid the painful anxiety of scrambling to finish in the 11th hour. Students should take notes. Note-taking is an invaluable skill to master now and for future studies in high school and in college.

A brief (16-question) objective test over each book will be administered in the first week of school, and the First Quarter English grade will be affected accordingly.

Summer Math Packet Help
Math Packet Assignments will be located in the comments section of report cards, available online Friday, June 4.

Mathematics Department faculty will hold summer Math Packet help sessions for all students. A math teacher will be available every Tuesday from July 6 through August 3, from 9 a.m. to noon, to help students complete their packets.

Our administrative assistant in the Upper School Office, Mrs. Lisa Toldi, can direct students to the location of the help lab when they arrive on campus. If you have any questions about your summer packet before July 6, please email either Mr. Darin Clifft or Mr. Phillip Stalls. Indicate on which summer packet you are working so they can direct your request to the appropriate teacher. (For some packets, students may also directly email the teacher listed in the packet.)

Summer Programs
MUS offers summer camps and classes for new and returning students as well as younger boys. See the Summer Programs area of our website for summer camp and class information.
