LS Owls Top Shelby League

The seventh and eighth grade Owls won the Shelby League Tournament Finals of their respective basketball leagues February 8.
Coach Matt Bakke and the eighth-grade squad defeated top-seeded Briarcrest Christian School 33-29 in a competitive contest. This is the third league title victory in four seasons for the eighth-grade team. Brayden Santibanez was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player, and Foster Flaherty and Chase Givens were the Owl representatives on the eighth-grade All-Tournament team. 

The seventh-grade team, led by Coach Jason Peters ’88, prevailed over Evangelical Christian School 39-36. The championship win is the sixth straight league title for Peters and the Owls. Palmer Albertine claimed the tournament’s MVP award while Thomas Heffner and Price Renovich made the seventh-grade All-Tournament team. See Grade 7 championship photos HERE and Grade 8 HERE.
