Baseball Season Gets Underway

 

The Diamond Owls bounced back the second week of the season, going 3-2. We had wins over Siloam Springs (AR), Hartselle (AL), and Magnolia Heights (MS). We Lost to Cabot (AR) and Mountain Home (AR).

In the first game vs Siloam Springs (AR), Will Portera and Lee Linkous each had 2 RBI’s. Riley Palmer picked up the win on the mound, going 4 1/3 innings.

In the loss to Cabot (AR), Will Portera picked up 2 hits. The win vs Hartselle (AL) saw Nash Stewart and Caleb Littlejohn combining on the mound for a 7-0 shutout. Stewart threw 4 innings with no runs and no hits. He picked up the win.

The win against Magnolia Heights (MS) had Scott Burnett going 4 1/3 innings on the mound and picking up the win, and Griff Griffin finished in relief. Will Portera had 3 RBI’s, and Lee Linkous had 2 RBI’s. The Owls’ loss to Mountain Home (AR) saw Hud McGehee, Matt Camp, and Clarkson Shoaf compete on the mound to end The Best of the West Tournament. We improved in many areas this week.

Regional play starts Monday with CBHS at home at 7:00, and we play at CBHS Tuesday at 7:00.
