October Owl Ovations go to Ms. Heather Davis

Instructor in Mathematics Heather Davis is the Owl Ovation honoree for October. She was nominated by families with students in the seventh and ninth grades.
Ms. Davis has been teaching Algebra I and Geometry here since 2018. She began her mathematics teaching career at Briarcrest Christian School in 1990, where she taught courses from eighth grade mathematics to honors trigonometry. She was there for three years before moving to Connecticut, where she continued teaching math for three years in the West Hartford Public Schools. Upon returning to Memphis she rejoined her former colleagues at Briarcrest, where she taught eighth grade and high school math courses for 20 years. Heather graduated summa cum laude from the University of Memphis in 1989 with a Bachelor of Science in mathematics and a minor in English. She also earned a Master of Arts in teaching from the University of Memphis in 1990. She was honored with the Tennessee Association of Independent Schools Hubert Smothers Award in 2016.

The Parents’ Association is hosting Owl Ovations this year to recognize and encourage faculty and staff during this exceptionally challenging season of COVID-19. Parents may nominate any faculty or staff member by emailing Director of Alumni and Parent Programs Ann Laughlin. Include “Owl Ovations” in the subject line and explain why your nominee should be recognized. We are keeping the details private, as nominations can be quite personal, but the honoree will receive a gift, thanks, and encouragement for all he or she is doing.
