Lim Conducts Research at St. Jude

Joel Lim ’24 participated in the St. Jude High School Research Immersion Program this summer and presented his results July 29 at Lichterman Nature Center. In his research, “HPC Performance Evaluation of a Nextflow Pipeline – DIVIA,” Lim worked alongside St. Jude Researchers to explore the factors influencing data pipeline performance and optimization.
Through this experience, he gained a higher understanding of the use of data pipelines, processes that automate the movement and transformation of data between a source system and a target repository, in the field of oncology.

“Throughout this summer program, I had the invaluable opportunity to immerse myself in the medical field, gaining firsthand experience and the chance to collaborate with and learn from esteemed doctors and researchers,” he said.

Lim’s brothers, Samuel Lim ’22 and Daniel Lim ’20, and Math Department Co-chair Darin Clifft were in attendance to show their support. Read more about the St. Jude program HERE.
