The varsity lacrosse team’s postseason run came to an end last Friday in the semifinals when we traveled to play at MBA and lost in a close game. We had lost to MBA a month earlier, 12-0, but we had several good weeks of practice and improvement. I am proud of the way the team responded to the challenge and the way they competed last Friday night. We had a great first quarter and jumped out to a 4-1 lead. We were hanging onto that lead at halftime, 6-4, but we gave up that lead in the third quarter, ending the third quarter down two goals, 8-6. However, we managed to get back within one goal at 9-8 just inside five minutes to go in the game. Unfortunately, the final score was 10-8.
Despite the outcome, I am proud of the way the team came together at the end of the season. I hope this season will give our underclassmen a little motivation going into the offseason. As for the seniors, thank you for all of your work, leadership, and dedication over the past four seasons. It has been a great run, which has included three state titles.
