Whitehaven JV Recap

The 2nd half of Monday Night Football followed the same script as the 9th grade game. Outstanding defense by both groups made yards hard to find. Whitehaven got on the board first with a 73 yard interception return for a TD midway in the opening quarter. The JV Owls struck right back aided by a roughing the kicker penalty when George Hamsley found Drew Burnett down the middle for a 23 yard TD strike. Chris Yarbro added the PAT aided by the snap of Cason Triplett and the hold of Fred Schaeffer.

The defenses remained strong in the 2nd quarter. The Owls had a great 4th down stop behind the play of Clayton Nearn and McRae Dickinson. The Owl offense was struggling to get going but toward the end of the period the defense stepped up on a great play by JP Hogan who stepped in front of a Whitehaven pass and weaved his way 57 yards for the TD. Yarbro and crew converted the PAT again and the Owls led at the half 14 to 6.

The second half produced few highlights on either side with the defenses remaining in control. Field position remained in our favor thanks to excellent punting by Charlie Nichols. All in all this was a solid win for the JV.
