CBHS Media Recap

Honor Bring to the Red and Blue. This team continues to live up to the challenge of our fight song. It is always a special night when the Owls take on the Purple Wave. Our seniors join a special club becoming the 5th group to go undefeated during their varsity career against our rivals (Class of 92,93,02,&13). It was a complete team effort to earn a 21 to 7 victory. The Brothers’ defense was tough, but our offense took care of the ball and made several big plays with our O-Line providing Brady time to find our receivers down the field. We have had several guys do extended duty throughout the season playing both ways and last night we leaned hard on Casey Cooper and Griffin Allen playing DL and our H/Y combo in 12 personnel on offense. Our defense did a great job of limiting CBHS to only 137 yards and 8 first downs with only one play of more than 15 yards. It was also a credit to our offense that when CBHS put together an excellent drive to cut the lead to 21 to 7 with 7:10 left in the game that we retained control of the ball for the remainder of the game!
It was a special show of class by the CBHS players and coaches to wear a #62 sticker on their helmet paying respect to Dion Stutts. Thanks to Coach McDaniel and the rest of the CBHS team.

MERCURY AWARDS:
Begun in 1991 due to the generosity of Owl booster Earl Blankenship, the Mercury Awards are presented to players of the game (usually offense and defense) and to the Buzzard Player of the Week (Scout Team). Each winner receives a special award at the end of the season, and these are cherished by many boys.
This week the Players of the Game are Clayton Kuhlo, Michael Ray and Max Williams. Clayton and Michael had an excellent games at tackle on offense both as run blockers and in pass protection. Max was solid all night but outstanding on two of the key plays in the game that occurred almost back-to-back. His 30-yard TD reception was followed in less than a couple minutes by his 75-yard pick six! Our Buzzard player of the Week is Charlie Gerhart. Charlie is a junior linebacker who has shown much improvement this season and was very strong in the JV win over Fairley accumulating 7 tackles.

The team returns to Stokes Stadium next Friday as we will host Oakhaven for a Homecoming and Senior Night. It should be a special night. GO OWLS!
