Wills Frazer 2025 Valedictorian
Memphis University School valedictorian Wills Frazer is a writer, a mathematician, and an artist who uses his talents to better comprehend various facets of life. To Wills, the world is fascinating and beautiful, and he is eager to explore. His greatest joy is gathering teams together to achieve creative goals, such as preparing cases for Mock Trial competitions, producing another newspaper edition, or creating the latest T-shirt design for a Student Council event.
Wills was the first student in school history to become editor-in-chief of The Owl’s Hoot, our award-winning newspaper, as a junior. As a part of his appointment, he attended a journalism camp at Columbia University where he networked with student journalists from around the country. He then returned to MUS and recruited a dynamic team of section editors to develop the paper. After Wills discovered Mock Trial sophomore year, he recruited friends to compete. This year, he co-led the team to win the district championship for the first time in 17 years.
This spring Wills presented his independent study in mathematics to the Upper School. “Math and Art: Parametric Cycloids, Polar Rose Curves, and Tessellations” explored the interplay between two of his favorite subjects. Under the guidance of Math Instructor Nancy Gates, he tackled Euclidean geometry and plane transformations.
As a junior, Wills volunteered once a week after school at the Refugee Empowerment Program in the Binghampton neighborhood of Memphis, helping children of refugees learn chemistry in their second language. Improving educational opportunities for Memphis-area students remains a focus of his efforts. He recently wrote a grant to provide art supplies to local elementary schools.
Wills is a National Merit Finalist, an AP Scholar with Distinction, a member of the MUS Cum Laude Society, National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, and Societas Caritatis.
The son of Mrs. Abby Frazer and Mr. Findley Frazer, Sr., Wills will graduate summa cum laude and attend the University of Virginia where he is the recipient of the Jefferson Scholarship.
