DAR Honors Owls

The Daughters of the American Revolution Watauga Chapter recognized Owl patriotism at its recent awards luncheon.
Senior McRae Dickinson was honored for his winning essay “Abigail Adams: Remember the Ladies: a Letter to her Husband.” The essay then earned top honors in the Tennessee DAR Patriots of the American Revolution contest. Assistant Headmaster Barry Ray received the Outstanding Teacher of American History Award. And Headmaster Pete Sanders accepted a framed certificate in recognition of the MUS “Flag Boy” program, in which students raise, lower, and fold the American flag each school day, under the direction of Mr. Ray. Also pictured is Mrs. Maria Burke, who presented the awards to McRae and Mr. Ray.
