Bubones Victors in Language Fair

A contingent of 13 Owl Latin students left the University of Memphis Language Fair victorious in both the team and individual competitions on Saturday, April 6.
The team of Will Gramm ’24, Wilson Pace ’26, and George Willmott ’26 finished first in the Culture Bowl – a cross-language, quiz bowl-style tournament. The trio defeated a strong Houston High School team in the final round by a score of 280 to 195.

"The University of Memphis Culture Bowl covers an extremely broad range of material related to language, geography, history, art, and religion,” Classical and Modern Languages Chair Ryan Sellers said. “Will, George, and Wilson faced questions on everything from the shape of the Nepalese flag to the derivation of the name of the African nation of Liberia, and they worked very well together to come away with a commanding victory."
