Student Life

In this vibrant, engaged community, boys learn to balance academics, athletics, and the arts with a host of extracurricular activities, having a whole lot of fun in the process.

Students gain experience in service and leadership through Student Council, Honor Council, school publications, honor groups, language societies, and the Civic Service Organization. They can join numerous clubs formed and run by students and reflecting their specific interests. Superheroes, SEC football, stock-market trading, computer programming, and ping pong are good examples of some of our current groups.

Boys can also try their hand at litigation in Mock Trial or at legislation in Youth in Government. They can make music in Studio Band, Orchestra, the Drum Corps, or the a cappella group Beg To Differ. They can apply to become a Student Ambassador and lead tours of the campus to prospective families. They can join classmates for the annual Math Team Scramble, or they can prepare to compete on a Quiz Bowl, Knowledge Bowl, or Nerd Bowl team.

We also host a variety of fun events throughout the year, including Football and Basketball Homecoming, Victory Dances, 5K races, Fall Fest, student elections, intramural basketball games, music concerts, the Roman Trigon Tournament, and the spring musical.

While we are serious about what we do, we try not to take ourselves too seriously – a sense of humor informs this community, where students feel the support needed to try new things and stretch their limits.
Fun and learning continue in the summer, when MUS offers fantastic study abroad trips in which students can explore foreign lands and pursue interests related to foreign languages or particular topics, such as the Roman Empire or World War II.
Plus, we offer a wide array of academic, athletic, and leadership opportunities on campus in our Summer Programs, which include sports and leadership camps, techie offerings including robotics and Minecraft, and academic subject reviews.

We think there is something here for every boy. And if not, we encourage our students to create their own clubs or even athletic teams. Rugby, anyone?
